Tunisia: Camel ride |
|||
Case history:We did not want to return naturally from our vacation in Tunisia, without at least have done a camel ride. Therefore we asked all possible holiday-makers and waiters, at the receipt of the hotel and even taxi driver, where we could experience such a thing. There all said us that we must run along at the beach only somewhat, and a camel ride will be offered.We made ourselves thus on the way and got also all possible offered, only evenly no camel ride. Two days later we found in a neighbour hotel. The there Chief of Animaters obtained such supplies. We were four people and from other hotels participated also still approx. eight holiday-makers, so that we needed three taxis, in order to arrive for the landlord of the camels. How so often in this vacation we had to practice also here in patience, because we waited a struck hour, until the coworker of the camel landlord had found the three taxis. We had paid overall approx. 70 DM per person - were contained in it taxi travel to the landlord, the ride with the camels and the return trip to the hotel. After altogether one and a half hours we had arrived at the camel landlord. There we were also friendly received and shipped immediately on the camels. Originally we had assumed that everyone gets its own camel, but were probably we a too large group. Only Biggi and me received our own camel.
The ride took fortunately almost one and a half hours and made for all users much fun. We rode some kilometers by the meager landscape and could enjoy the peace there. The camels behave now and then rather as stubborn donkeys and give sounds of itself, which one can describe only with difficulty. - Hmmm - who knows the film " STAR WARS", - there is such a overall hairy animal, sounds so similar. After all had arrived with sound bones again on the camel farm, an older woman was present, offered us against small Payment native clothes, in order to photograph us. Nobody could be interested of course in addition to over-throw at these deadly temperatures this something - hmmm - strangely smelling clothes.
Additionally a cool beverage waited for us - included in the price. Each further cost however 3 Dinar. Thus on the whole the camel ride was a large success, if we already did not have to wait again almost two hours for the taxi. A taxi call? - clear, if you have a mobile telephone... (sigh)...After this waiting period we stopped a taxi at the close road. This taxi we had to pay - however as said - those are no so expensive in Tunisia.
Result: The camel ride was worth its cash! Finally there was no taxi to fetch us again. Nevertheless we would not like to miss this experience and would repeat it to every time again. |
